Partition in Garage.

We have a detached garage which I wish to use as a storage area and a hobbies room.
This would entail building a removable [should we move] stud wall dividing the storage area from the hobbies room.
1. Would Planning Permission be required.
2. Ideas as to how to build this.
Thanks for any advice.

I'm not 100% on the planning permissions side but if it's temporary and you're building with the correct materials you shouldn't have any problems (fireproof board for ceilings etc...) We've converted our garage to a soundproof studio and not had any problems permission wise as used the correct materials. (It matters most if you're looking to sell it on with it still there I believe)
You'll need plasterboard, insulation, timbre for the frame and screws / nails to fix it all together. If you want it to look pretty, then you can fill in the gaps or plaster over it
This site should help you with the 'how to' bit : http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/partition_wall.htmWins so far:£100 M&S Voucher, £10 Mama's & Papa's Voucher, £50 Mother Care Voucher, £50 Very Voucher, £65 dining out Voucher, 3 months of Purina Cat food, cinema tickets, silk scarf, Frusli bars,

I would just get on with it . Its a temp wall in a private garage . Would not even bother with insulation. ( if it was not warm enough , insulating one (new) wall, but not the other three plus ceiling and floor)??
Build it out of CLS , 3x2 face with plasterboard.Nice w/e project ... feeling envious.0 -
Tell them nothing, just get on with it. My choice would be CLS also. It would all be easily removable, if no longer required at some future date.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
I did the same thing in my last house, although I did get someone in to put it up for £200 . The wall was 3m x 2.4m and insulated. I sold the house recently and the surveyor was fine with it. No planning permission, although had there been any bother I would have just took it down. The purchaser wanted it left up.0
