British Gas Home Care Policy and Repair charges
I took out a British Gas Home Care 100 policy out around a month ago and had my first service booked in for Friday 9th June by the time the service date came round the boiler had developed a fault with the Gas Value.
As the boiler was faulty on the date of the first service the engineer said that the repair would cost £230 (£155 for the gas valve on a Potterton boiler) the rest being the fitting charge.
He then said if I switched my Gas and Electricity to British Gas it would be done for free he phoned them up and I signed up for the Market tracker product which is until Oct 2011 with a £60 fee to leave.
I have been with Scottish power since Oct 2010 on there online tarrif and I have to pay £50 to leave them to join British Gas.
Which is best for me im not sure I want British Gas supplying my Gas & Electricity as its probably not the best deal for me (would they know if I canceled after the repair is done?)
The British Gas home care policy is costing £11 per month (1 year contract)
Scottish Power charge £50 for me to leave but I did get £60 quidco
£230 is a bit much to pay for the repair so switching seems like the best way round it just wanted to get some ideas
