Hundred's Of Old Photographs

If possible i would like to put everyone of these on to a disc/s...
and then transfer them over to my pc.
Now i know i could use a scanner to do this..
but this would be a very long tedious job
Does anyone know of a service where for example you could take these many photo's in..
and they would transfer them to a dvd/s for you?

I'd imagine the cost would be prohibitive. Most scanners/software will allow you to put say 4 photos in at a time, and it'll scan each as a separate file.
egMultiple photos in one scan
LiDE 25’s fast and convenient Multi-Photo Mode² creates individual automatically cropped files from a single scan pass of up to 10 separate photos, business cards or other originals. It even de-skews images automatically, saving precious time that would otherwise be spent carefully aligning photos on the glass prior to scanning. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
If you put "photos to CD" into Google you will get lots of companies who do this.
Average cost is 7P per pic which works out at £70 per 1000. I wouldn't call that prohibitive, but I guess it's all relative.
If you did have literally hundreds, as you say, then most companies do discounts for larger amounts.0 -
7p a pic is ok, but when you say "70 quid for scanning some photos" it seems pretty expensive.
Say the OP has the 1000 photos. 4 photos per scan is 250 scans. 30 seconds per scan, 2-3 hours total. Do it in 30 minute chunks so you're not bored to death, and you'll get it done in a week. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Hello,
What about something like this:

Just insert a memory card and then start passing all your photos through the scanner.

Seen this on QVC. Simple to use.0 -
Pretty bad quality on NiVZ's one (300x300dpi). You'd be hard pushed to find one that isn't at least 600dpi these days. I'd be worried about feeding precious family photos through one of those too, tbh. It'll be a bit of a timesaver but the quality wouldn't get near spending the equivalent on a flatbed.
Those things wouldn't scan larger photos either, so no good for, say, school photos etc.

4800dpi, it'll scan negatives as well. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
