Faulty Kettle

I bought a kettle (Russell Hobbs 14590 Stylis Kettle) from a local retailer just over eleven months ago, all was fine until a few weeks ago where the lid stopped popping up so I am having to fill it through the spout.
Went back to the shop where I bought it and they say that they only take things back in the first few weeks after purchase, anything longer than that I have to send it back to the manufacturer myself.
Is this right?

do you still have your receipt im sure it should come with a years gar, all electrical items do the shop is responsible for exchanging it, because its faulty goods, and its the shop you deal with not the manufacturer unless its way over a year old. How did you pay for this item was it cash or cc ?0

No it's not. Your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer and as such it is their responsibility to handle this. Having said that, as your kettle is over 6 months old the onus is on you to proof that it has an inherent manufacturing fault so you could end up contacting the manufacturer yourself anyway.euanmcgill wrote: »Is this right?0 -
It'd likely be easier to contact the manufacturer. But if you get nowhere, then back to the retailer with a vengeance!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
