Orderd One, Got two - only paid for 1??

I ordered a large item from ELC.

It came and then it came again.

I now have two of these outdoor items. I have only paid for one and they arrived on week commencing 28th June.

Do I keep it. I'm tempted!! Do they have a right to ask for it back? Can they take momey from my account without my knowlege?

It is still wrapped and stored in case they do ask for it back. But surely its a mistake and there is nothing they can do now!! HELP.:p

Oh come on! They made a mistake, do the honourable thing and inform them (or they may notice anyway!) and get them to collect at your conveniance.

Before anyone says I would not have thought this comes under unsolicited goods as it was a mistake rather then a ploy to get sales.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

They made a mistake and you want to punish them for it ? Seems more than a little off, I would definitely contact them and let them know - to me it would be akin to stealing to keep one without paying :(

You're allowed to keep unsolicited goods, but the goods arent exactly unsolicited are they? You technically have asked for the goods, they've just sent the wrong amount. Its an obvious error, not unsolicited.

I would make them aware of it and give them so long to collect it. If they dont collect within that period then they shouldnt be able to charge you for it.

Let them know in writing of their mistake, and ask them to arrange a return at their expense (and your convenience).

They might let you keep it... (but if they figure out they've sent you two, they could also bill you for the second, so best to let them know of their mistake first)!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You've had the goody two shoeses answers so here's mine.

Keep it for 6 months. If you don't hear anything from ELC sell it on Ebay. Sorted.

Would that be wise seeing as effectively they can chase for payment for 6 years?
