i have scottish power duel fuel payed by monthly direct debit. we declined the 'generous' offer of going onto a pretty high capped rate when our fixed price deal ended and the bills should be nearly double what we were paying.
although we are in credit by almost £100 this is not unusual in the summer. still they have put our monthly payments down by £10. (they told us by letter). Are they doing this just to hit us with a huge catch up bill later?
i just can't figure out what they might have been thinking.

I got a similar letter from then, only to be followed by another which put the dd up to a more realistic level.
I think it was because I was in credit on the capped rate when they ran the annual review first but then re did it with the new prices.
PS I've now switched, but am still waiting for the £60 odd they owe me.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Agreed it makes no sense to cut your DD payments with an impending large tariff increase. However they aren't 'thinking' of anything - these letters are automatically generated by a computor that can only work on the data fed into it. Of course it should be monitored by a human before sending.
Why would they deliberately want you to run up a huge debit balance that you you will need to "catch up" later? All it means is they lose interest on that debit balance.
I think the ‘c**k up’ theory has more validity here than the conspiracy theory!0 -
They did this to me last year I phoned them straight away and told them to damned well leave it alone.....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
