Well as before i stated that halifax susspended my account for the simple reason they want to know where £50 came from (lost the email which states someone paying it in) I need to know a few things, Can i close my account over the counter as i dont want anything more to do with halifax or would i have to ring up and tell them i want to close my account right now ect any help is great!

If they have suspended your account they probably won't let you close it until they are satisfied as to where the £50 came from.

Just been in and spoke to a lady and said i need to prove where the money came from have done so and now there telling me i need to get them to ring there bank to ring my bank and confirm. There taking the micky now i have it in black and white where the money came from yet they refuse to let me have my money am really getting p**ed of now

Maybe it is not your end they are worried about, maybe despite the fact you have proved where it is from other person/company who is the problem.

They normally do this when themoney has come from has spiked another of their accounts. It is obviously from their viewpoint not froma trsuted source as they have had dealings from this person business before

I suspect that this thread may be a wind-up ... I really struggle to believe that someone would want to close their account just because the bank is trying to protect them from handling fraudulent money.

Chances are, they think you are a fraudster, money launderer and/or the source where the money has come from is not totally legit.

I want to close the account because i just opened an account with another bank and this was the final straw. No wind up here just getting annoyed that they put a block on my account. I told them if there worried about the money just to refund it to the sender but there unwilling to do this.

Also spoke to the person who sent the money and said they rang there bank but there bank is unwilling to give there details to a 3rd party.
