upgrading

Hiya,

Not sure if anyone can help but im with santander and had a electron card because of my bad credit. I lost my card last week so went in to cancel my card and order a new one.
Today i recieved a pin number for my new debit card rather than electron card.
Im not moaning as my electron was a pain couldnt be used in certain shops etc infact never worked anywhere so always had to take cash out. Was just wondering if they do just upgrade accounts without telling you.

Hope this is right place and thanks for any help x :)

Santander no longer issue Visa Electron cards.

The replacement will look the same, but will say Visa Debit and will work in more places than Visa Electron but less than a full Visa card.

So it's not an upgrade as such.

    Thank you,

It feels like an upgrade to me just because of how useless my electron card was it would not even work in tesco so hoping this one will :j

I'm afraid you are wrong. Santander DO still issue Visa Electrons, If you had an Electron before your new debit card will be Electron also, unless you have applied for your card to be upgraded.

When i first received a electron card it stated in the letter it was a electron card that would be sent.
However this letter states its a debit card which is the same letter my partner received when his debit card was sent out.
So I am 90 % sure it is definitely a debit card i will be receiving. :j

A Visa Electron *IS* a debit card though.

Yep i know its a debit card but on the letter i recieved when i first opened the account it stated it would be a visa electron as i didnt have a clue what this was after moving from natwest where i had a solo card from the age of 16. So i googled what it was before the card arrived.

This time it just states debit card which was the same as my partners letter he got around 6 months ago when he moved accounts. I could be wrong but i hope im not as i hate always having to carry cash around with me :(

Are the numbers lasers in like the electron card or punched out like a standard Visa card, also does it have a cheque guarantee mark on the back. One last question what are the first 4 digits of your card number, they are on the plastic too under the engraved/embossed number.
