coasters and bowls WITH INVITE PIC NOW :)

hey

i grew up in a house where my grandad would play his country music records and we would dance around the room and sing and my parents would play queen records out and we'd just have a good old dance ( usually on dads toes hehe)

we saw my grandma the other week and she said about the wedding and that we should use some of grandads vinyl in the wedding so i said i'll go home and think about it.

and we come up with this ( thanks to a bit of help from google)

coasters and bowls?

we thought about using the bowls for the candy bar and the coasters for the drinks as we are having 7 inch records for our invites as its something my grandad and a few other family members will love

not the best but it was my first attempt i have about 100 to make though hehe x

you may think how can that tie in with your theme but we are having a 50's vw bus and beetle, and i've got my 50's dolly dress and bridesmaids are in matching 50's dresses so i think it ties in well ( i hope )

Errrr, I don't want to alarm you, BUT some old vinyl records are worth an absolute bomb!!! Please get them valued before melting any more!!!
The cleo one you've melted is currently selling for around £15!

its ok my uncle collects records and he will be coming to bootfairs with me to make sure i dont buy anything of value ( he spends thousands on one record at a time) x

haha the large one i got in a record store for 50p yesterday so it cant be worth much x

i made them buy putting them in the oven in a cup and bowl with a tin of tuna on top but i now know you can make them like this http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/jan/26/turn-record-into-bowl which is much easier

I love these, they look so good. Ive just had an idea how to freak my OH out now lol, he has a massive collection of records which he adores.....more than me I think sometimes lol, Im so tempted to go buy a cheap one and tell him its one of his from the shelf and i'd decided to make a load of coasters and bowls for the wedding decorations haha how mean am I!! That would get his attention and make him think about the wedding more lol

seriously though these are great and im very impressed for a first attempt well done x

thank you i put a want out on free cycle as all my local charity shops dont have anyone and i'm doing a boot fair on sunday so shall also look out there

The bowl is really funky!
No so sure on the coaster, though, I think that'd be better off being flat.
