You could apply to Don't Tell The Bride? Or some other wedding show like that.

Do try - they don't take long to enter. Someone recently posted that they had won a wedding dress.
    Thank you all who post.

Thank you.. i've entered some. I suppose "every little helps" (sounding like Tesco Now). I think we are going to ask around friends for the cars.. i'm sure someone will be willing to help!

Buy (or go to book shop and sit quietly to read! lol) 'Worst-case Scenario Survival Handbook: Weddings' They have loads of ways to do similar things, including advertising!

Enter every competition going. Oh and good luck!

let us know how you get on.

Umm I think you will find that a registrar alone costs £350... you won't get that free or discounted.

Minimum charge for a registrar is roughly £30 each to give notice, and £40-ish to be married in their office with no guests, so £100 for your fees.

I just got this off the Staffordshire site, not sure where you are, but it's always cheaper to get married during the week than on a weekend..

Costs of getting married in Staffordshire

    Marriage at the Register Office

To give notice of marriage the cost is £30.00 per person. The cost of a Register Office wedding is:
£40.00 Monday - Saturday (before 1pm) (43.50 in total including certificate). £100.00 Saturday (after 1pm) - Sunday (103.50 in total including certificate).

What town are you in, maybe there's a Freegle you can ask for stuff on?

Well we paid £380, but we are not getting married in their office, for our civil ceremony, plus £30 each to give notice.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

Invite people via text if you have a contract, with (x) number of text per month, very MSE
Use car from people who you would invite
Do your own flowers, buy from a local market the day before, then set to with a couple of friends
Make your own cake or press great aunty in to use,
If anyone asks what you would like as a wedding gift, pick something to do with the day, ie cake, photos, cars, flowers, food, drinks and ask if kindly they would buy it / donate it for the day.
Sevice sheets if that is your thing, find someone in the family with as computer and decent printer, they can do those, (as a wedding gift) you buy the paper / card for them, and advise them as to what you want where.

    I'm in Chesterfield (Derbyshire).
    Kazwookie, I love your tips!
The more I read things, the easier it actually sounds.
My local Vicar said he would marry us next year before he retires because we have had our daughter Christened there.
Just need to pick a date! :j
