Ok well, I had the electrician round to have a look (he reads the meter's for the management all around the center) He confirmed to ignore the last digit.

Perhaps have a word with the management company and get them to re-check the credentials of the so called 'electrician' they employ

    Or give him his P45.

Lucylou606 do you have the meter reading from when you took over the business unit? If you are renting it, you landlord should normally also have a copy. You need to check if this is 5 or 6 digits.

If it is only 5 digits then you will be back billed by your supplier from the day you moved in. They may also rebill the old customer so that there final reading matches you initial reading.

As has been said you should be able to work out how much you owe by comparing what you have been billed for and paid against what you should have been billed for. Based on post 13 you have been underpaying by £88 week (if that week was average) for about 100 weeks which equates to £8800.

The bad news is that business customers don't get as much 'protection' as domestic customers.
