I seem to be getting a lot of junk mail recently and after looking at who sends it a lot of the emails look like fdgflhgdflghgsdsds@yahoo.com
If I block yahoo.com will I no longer be able to get this junk mail?
Or is there a better solution to it

Ah yeah I'm getting exactly the same. A sudden outburst of spam via random Yahoo accounts. Two dozen a day at least. Usually telling me my loan has been approved. Very annoying, and the Gmail filters don't seem to recognise it, even though I report each one as spam.
Very frusrating, am tempted to email Yahoo and ask them what the hell is going on. I'm sure if it were spoofed (ie sent via another mail server) Gmail would pick it up via a reverse DNS lockup. So I can only assume that these are coming from Yahoo accounts, in which case how are they being setup so easily."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Are you sure its from Yahoo email addy they can usually be forged so it looks like it comes from there or it could come from a zombie pc.
Have alook in outlook express then email and properties/ details tabs0 -
You could try using Spamihilator. It may take a few days to learn that these are spam, but once learnt they will get binned.

I get the same forwarded from my old genie (now o2) account. O2 says they cannot do anything about it so I just forward them directly to o2 customer services (in India) to waste their time too.0

Blocking the Yahoo domain would work in these cases, but would also stop any genuine mail from Yahoo senders.
There's absolutely no point in blocking these individual email addresses as they are spoofed and relayed.
You're better off getting a decent Spam filter as suggested in another post. Let it deal with the Spam and save you wasting your time.0 -
Thank you for your replies.

This can easily be detected, a lot of spam filters have the functionality to do so. If the sender doesn't have a valid reverse DNS PTR entry (ie the domain it came from is not the same as the domain in the "from" field), then the mail usually gets flagged as spam.
Basically you're anti-spam filter will make sure the email came from where it should have done, instead of being spoofed."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
