Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Tuesday 13th July. 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.
Morning all,
Its been raining here, the sky looks dull, so might be set in for the day, we do need it, but I rather like the sun
OH could not get out of bed again this morning, it seems that his back seizes up overnight, once he is up and moving it seems a lot better, he is off to work today.
We got a few little jobs done yesterday, and we also went to Focus, where they had a sale on, and we got all sorts of bits and pieces we need, such as sockets ect, I also got a beautiful chandelier type lampshade for the spare room reduded to £12 :T
We have decided to get someone in to skimm the walls in there, they are so rough, and it would not look as good if we tried to fill them, so OH is trying to get hold of someone toaday, cant wait to get on with the real decorating in there :T
Tea tonight will I think be smoked mackeral salad for OH and I, dd can have veggie lasagne with salad.
DD is bringing a young man home tonight
, she met him through a friend, and told me she was going to meet him tonight at the local train station, I insisted that I go with her and that they 'visit' here where I can be on hand if needs be, I told dd that if he was a decent boy he would not mind 'mother' hanging around
, anyway she told him and he said that would be fine and that he understands :T, he is 15 the same as dd, a budding romance ??? she has also warned me not to do ANYTHING embarrassing
If it brightens up I need to move some of my tomato plants, my sister gave me loads in a tiny pot, so I shoved them in the earth thinking they would not take and they have :rotfl:they need a bit more space between them, I will also have a count up and see how many I have
OK better get on, have good days all xx

Morning Redruby, Mrs MH & all to follow, quiet on here today.
We've had loads of rain overnight & the garden is soaking so would be nice to have a little sunshine today but I think that is unlikely.
Will be spending the morning in the office & the afternoon on the house. Not sure what we will do for dinner tonight as have DD's parent evening between 5-7pm
Will check the weather forcast in a mo and see if it is worth putting the washing out or not.
Have a great day.x0 -
Good Morning All
Im very tired this morning, didn't sleep too well for worry about my dog.
She was very drowsy & high on morphine when I collected her last night, they wanted to keep her in, but as the vets had no over night care, we had to take her to the emergency overnight animal hospital in Sheffield. her temperature was low, so they laid her on a heat pad, she still had diahorrea, but was able to go outside for a wee. She picked up by 11.30pm when they rang us with an update. OH is on his way to fetch her home. What started out at a bill in the hundredss, as now gone over a thousand  but she is worth it. Thank the lord for pet insurance.
I'm at the hospital this morning, getting my supports fitted for my feet, then its back to work. My neighbour will dog sit untill I get home. I'm only part time so wont be gone long.
Os - quick tidy up & sterilise the work tops, washing all up to date, & a quick sweep, cant be bothered with anything else.
redruby - hope OH doesn't do too much to put his back out again, light exercise does help, but don't over do it. Ooooh - skimmed walls, it'll be worth it in the end. You do right where DD is concerned & meeting this new "boy" better to be safe than sorry.
Have a great day
Take care
Love Emma xx

Morning All
MS work for me today - have 9 jobs that must be done today but they are just audits so the travelling will take longer than the jobs. Will take DD and DS-D with me to let DH sleep in....this working for a living is tiring him out! He's back on the ferries today starting at 2pm.
The usual mindless violence erupted after the parades last night and a police woman was hit on the head by a breeze block - her colleagues had to shield her from these 'protesters' throwing stones and petrol bombs at her while they gave her first aid. Disgraceful.
DH and I have promised ourselves a 'Jarmy' day tomorrow and so I think when I get back from my jobs this evening I'll make a chilli and prepare fajitas so we can have a leisurely day. Looking forward to it - I'm not used to being around the house without him and it's very strange!
Have a good day xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Never posted on this forum before. Not sure why!
Had a really early night after a couple of late ones over the wknd. Was up at 6.30 am putting the spag bol/chilli in the slow cooker. My eldest is doing a meal tonight for her and her boyfriend as its their 1 year anniversary!! She is getting so grown up!
Watered all the plants (I know its been raining, but I have a lot in pots) picked some more of my home grown broccolli - I am so proud of it!! Wondering when my carrots and onions will be ready tho?? Tomatoes are all looking great and so are my courgettes.
Started work now, writing the minutes up from a meeting I had yesterday and then I will be having another meeting!!
Nice to have a quick chat on here! I hope to be back!
T xMarried the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
Goodness - where is everybody?
had lovely meal with former staff last night - it was great to see them again. However, nothing they said made me hanker after being back at school again! I've clearly finally come to terms with that aspect of retirement!
We had some rain overnight, enough to soak my chair cushions which I forgot were outside! Think they're reasonably waterproof tho' as fillings don't seem wet at all. Fingers crossed.
Need to get DS to station fairly soon, he is a bit brighter, so hopefully will be able to cope. Think they have arranged some B&B accomodation. Well, it's a start. Fingers and toes crossed there!
Need to do a bit more washing and hope to reduce the bedroom clutter a bit. Have someone in tiling again this morning - will be really glad when it's finished.
For some time I have had a strange mark on my thigh, above the knee. DH thinks I should get it checked out. Realised yesterday that it's possibly a burn mark from my laptop, which does get uncomfortably hot! The mark reminds me of those I used to get as a child from standing far too close to the fire guard! Says something about the hours I spend on the wretched thing. Am going to drastically cut down the time - and use a book or something between the laptop and me!
Hope you all have a good day today. Take care.Resolution:
