At the end of July I bought a game from ebay from a seller in Hong Kong. They had lots of good feedback and the game was a bargain (about 16 quid inc. delivery, for a game that would have cost £20 here). I sent the paypal and they sent me an email on the 6th Aug saying they'd sent it. Anyways, three weeks later it still not turned up, so I sent them a message on ebay. No reply and their account siad it was no longer registered with ebay. I emailed them. No reply. So I reported the item not received.
Got an email today. Paypal have decided that the seller was at fault and have awarded me the max. compensation of $3.99!!! the game cost me $28.99. I can not believe it! I've lost so much money.
What happens now? Is that it? I thought paypal could get me my money back, obviously not. I feel so stupid, and I was really looking forward to getting my game.

We have completed our investigation of this case. We attempted to process a refund from the seller's account to your account. Unfortunately, the seller's account does not contain the funds necessary to cover this refund. We were able to recover $3.99 USD. We have taken action against the seller and are working to recover the remainder of your refund. We will contact you when we have more information. No further action is required of you at this time.

I paid with my switch on paypal. They gave me $3.99 (£2.02) because, by the sound of it, that was all that was in the sellers account. They say they are working on the rest ($25).

As far as i know all you can do is hold out until the sellers account has more funds in it so that paypal can get the rest of your money for you. I dont think you can go through switch to do a chargeback with them (im sure someone here will know better than me!) Though it may be worth contacting your switch provider to see if they can help, im not sure if they will be able to though

They'll probably shut their paypal account down as well.
it proves that they haven't posted the game, if they had have they would have emailed me back.

Maybe clutching at straws here, but maybe they had x amount of money in his/her paypal account only he ripped a few other peeps off so what was left in Paypal was divided by X amount of people, hence why he maybe no longer a regsitered user too many complaints.0

poppy i think you may be right. I just looked at his feedback on ebay and he has had 3 negatives this month. he hasnt had any til now, so maybe he just decided to rip everyone off this month. grrr.

Yes, definitely this looks a classic case of a good seller gone bad. It happens sometimes and as the above poster has said, Paypal has probably divided the funds between all the buyers. If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0
