stick on shower caddy doesnt (stick on)

Hi,
Wondering what to do. Not a huge issue but don't want to let it lie. Bought a stickon (suction) shower caddy to replace one that had worked for years but the rubber suckers got stiff in the end and stopped working. The new one is not the same make but looked like it might work. In fact it didn't, fell off three times in four days, not overloaded with bottles, stuck carefully and firmly on clean tiles in my shower, not under mega power shower.
Took it back to the shop who said they'd test it and talk to the manufacturer. Not all that happy about that but ok... the shop rang today and said that two staff had tried it in their showers, had worked fine, they would only offer me a credit note and that only out of good will. Have already shelled out another £15 elsewhere for new version of original product which works great.
Can I insist on my money back? The shop says it works for them so it's not faulty. I say that's no use to me, as far as I'm concerned it is faulty!
Guidance gratefully received, many thanks in advance

Well you could argue its not fit for purpose/poor quality and for the former, i believe they would have to prove it works as intended.......having 2 employees taking it home to see if it stuck to their tiles for all of 30 seconds and having it there constantly with the shower and steam etc and not falling off are completely different.
Poor quality would of course take into account price paid among other things - you wouldnt expect a £10 product to be as good as the same kind of product that was £200 (for example).
But i believe if they have done significant tests to conclude the product isnt faulty, they will have no problem supplying a copy of this testing to you
Although you may find that when you ask them to produce this, they just issue a refund anyways.

Hi,
Bought it on 1 July, tried to return it on 9th July. Thanks very much for your input!0 -
twist lock by any chance? I have a spice rack with the same issue lol0

twist lock hmmm yes i have a shower 2 ish tier caddy and towel holder.
been in this property just over a month, that's how long they lasted, got the OH to put them back up, then he can say they were done properly, you know what men are like, assume because you did it, it must be wrong..
anyhoo same position keeps falling down, and it still on my wet room floor where it fell down a few weeks back.
Although i can't take mine back they were OH, he bought them beginning of the year for his place but his tiles are all bumpy, he didn't figure that until he got home.
It's a great alternative to drilling holes in tiles etc, if only they would stay stuck, mine too were not over loaded, in fact prior to the final collapse back on the floor, there was purposely nothing on them0 -
Hi,
The one I bought to replace the one that doesn't work is great - got it at John Lewis, £15, you press it up to the wall and twist it through 90 degrees and it does stay stuck. On my tiles at least. I had the same model for about 4 years and it only stopped working when the plastic on the suction cups did that thing where it starts to go stiff instead of flexible. then it would drop off in the middle of the night and frighten us silly. But the new one is ace.0 -
You need to make sure the surface is something that is not porous,ie glass or tiles. Ultra smooth and ultra clean for them to stick. I used to work in a well know Diy chain and we got them back all the time they are next to useless.0

Thanks Steve. Our tiles are not smooth gloss but not bumpy exactly, just a bit like stone. But the new one works great so that shouldn't make it impossible. Next to useless about sums up the old one tho0
