    Hi Olly,

the masters is PT over 2 years, so I expect to be securing employment within the field to support that.

My work experience yes, should display well what my motivations are for studying the course. Plus when I was doing my A levels we had a presentation at 6th form from professionals doing what this course is for and always knew I wanted to do this eventually , but Id already accepted my place for undergrad course by this stage and was imminently going to my undergrad course. Sorry , thats so cryptic it barely makes sense! :D

    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

My undergrad is nothing to do with the MSc, but it uses some skills, but I have work experience that I hope to "display" :D

It is a taught MSc with a dissertation
I graduated from my BA in 99  I can barely remember what I did- eeeeeek I hope they don't focus too much on this, my dissertation was crap! ( I fell into the "too wide" trap, never again!)

Oh god now Im starting to fret, eeek !

Don't panic - the interview should reflect your situation. If you did your first degree over a decade ago, they should focus less on that than they would if you'd graduated last week!

oh hun - calm down!! you sound like you're in a total tizz!

if they thought your degree class would be a problem, you wouldn't be interviewed - their time is too precious and for over subscribed courses they would just reject and move on. so they think you're good enough, but they want to check.

i'd avoid jeans, it's just too casual. smart trousers and a top sounds fine (most lecturers aren't exactly in suits every day!!).

just breathe and know that you're good enough - you're confident, capable and have experience that matters. let that shine through. will keep my fingers crossed!

Thank you thank you thank you !

Im off out shopping today as I dont have trousers, I do have a lovely blouse and an "interesting" necklace that goes well but need some plain trousers to go with them or a skirt.

Hopefully a day out shopping will take me away from the incessant googling to see if there are any bods anywhere who are writing about these interviews (they are not!)

    aaaaaand breathe :D

A smart skirt would also be fine - not need to worry about buying some trousers, unless you want to go shopping :D

I recently completed my Msc in Social work and like some of the other people who have replied I think passion about my field got me an offer within a few hours.

the questions were pretty as others have said but I found it really useful to be able to talk about things I had seen in the media and an all round awareness of my vocation so it might be worth looking at the current issues facing the profession - for social work a scan of community care magazine and Guardian Society showed me some interesting things I was lucky enough to be able to throw in. I think the question was what issues did I think facing social work were most important and why. I guess funding would be an answer to this for all areas at the moment! I know this sounds like detail but its not its showing your motivation and passion - to get through the masters and write a dissertation you definitely have to be interested.

    I wore a smart shirt/blouse and trousers..

I wish you all the best - i'm sure you'll be great.

    Thanks to everyone!

I got the trousers today, yes I did want to go shopping lol! Will be trousers, blouse, interesting jewellry and heels ( not too high, I can actualy walk in them lol) Pleased the weather seems to have taken a dip, hopefully I wont sweat all my make up off lol

I am going to take some time to gen up, and basically get my thoughts in order but I guess I could talk all day about "the current challenges facing the profession" as there is a lot going on right now.

Thanks to all those who bring in the social work experiences , I used to be in social work so the examples are quite transferrable in terms of the sorts of responses needed to get me on this course :D

    heres hoping!
