Asbestos garage roof

Hi my dad is in the process of sorting out my garage so that it is a useable space.
The roof is abestos and I wanted any advice as what to do with it. Currently it is protecting the garage fine- no leaks or cracks.
We are in a dilema whether to seal and box in the roof as we plan to increase the lighting and lower the ceiling, or remove the roof completely and start again.
My budget is small so I would appreciate any advice of how much it would cost for to remove the roof or whether sealing it and boxing it in would be a good/ safe option.
It looks like corrugated concrete
Thanks in adavance.:)

I have the same problem. I can't remember the exact quote but I think it is approx £3-400 to have it taken away by an approved disposal company. This website https://www.arca.org.uk has a list of approved companies for each county. I simply phoned around and most would give quotes over the phone.
Good luck0 -

I would leave it more so if you're on a budget. Asbestos cement is quite safe unless your cutting or drilling holes in it.0 -
If you are capable of dismantling it yourself, your local amenity site will probably take.
Ours will providing it is double bagged.
Why not check with your local council.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
You are not allowed to box it in, at least from the outside. Not sure about inside but guess this would be OK.0

I removed the asbestos roof from my old garage and replaced it with one made of polycarbonate sheeting from Wickes. Cost nothing to dispose of the roof at the local tip.For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

My sister has a similar garage, she was going to get it removed & a new one built, but has put it off due to the cost.
You are meant to get a sealed skip in that the material goes into, you can either hire the skip alone, or hire a team to take it down & dispose of it.
This material should not be handled without proper safety equipment, including gloves, certified mask & eye protection, you are putting your health at risk not using these.
True it is safe when it is in one piece, but once damaged, the fibres can be inhaled & cause damage to your lungs.
This material should be disposed of by a certified company, and the local tip should not be taking it, if they are, they either dont know what it is, or are not doing their jobs properly.
This material is a hazard & can kill you.0 -
Oh, and this information came from the local council. But i work in air emission monitoring & we have a team of asbestos testers and i asked them, so i think my information is quite reliable.0

Your information may well be correct , but is alarmist .
Can /May ??This material is a hazard & can kill you.
So can crossing the street .0 -
If it's intact I'd leave and just make your alterations beneath it.
It needs to be double bagged and disposed of appropriately if you remove it. You will have to pay, most domestic tips won't take it. You will also need to wear safety equipment to remove it, as it becomes dangerous when damaged, and the dust will cover your clothes etc.
It's a lot of aggravation and expense for no real reason really.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Would you cross a street without looking at the potential risk of being hit?
