Hiya
I am thinking of swapping from BT standard landline to O2, as I already have mobile and broadband with them. I am looking at the Anytime package as I often make daytime calls plus my parents live in Spain and I phone them almost daily some weeks. Has anyone got any reviews of this package...is the landline still BT basically? And is it absolutely necessary to pay extra for 1571 Voicemail? Isn't that free on BT?
Many thanks
abi

1571 Voicemail and Caller Display are definitely chargeable on O2 Homephone. Unlike BT where they are not chargeable subject to you makeing a certain number of calls.

Calls to 0844/0871 numbers are very expensive should anyone be needing to use Intl Access Numbers.0 -
Hi Abi,
Thank you for showing the interest in O2 Home Phone services, if you’re thinking of signing up for the Anytime package then you would be benefited with 600 inclusive free minutes to call your parents in Spain.
In regards to the 1571 voicemail service, billsavings is correct that it is chargeable, bolt-on link shown above and all the prices can be viewed here http://broadband.o2.co.uk/downloads/O2_Home_Phone_Price_List.pdf

If the O2 Rep is still around, can I ask why O2 didn't include Caller Display and 1571 in their Anytime package - you would get a lot more customers! As the poster said above, this is currently free with BT.0

Hi Luv2Budget,
Our research tells us that most customers don’t take these services, or even use them when included free in a package. By not including caller display or voicemail for free we are able to offer lower package costs which is what we believe the majority of our customers want. We then offer the flexibility of adding these services as bolt-ons for those that do want to use them.
Hope this clarifies!

Thanks O2 for your response. I'm surprised about your research because from reading various blogs, a lot of people would move to O2 if caller display and 1571 was included in at least the Anytime package.0

Its only not chargeable with BT if you meet their minimum call requirements.0 -
I`ve just signed up to O2 broadband/(anytime)home phone package as the two together is £6.50 a month cheaper than I`m paying now for an almost identical phone supply from BT and broadband from O2. BT offered a £3 per month discount paid as a one off lump sum up front just to stay with them. Have got to pay a penalty for cancelling with BT 2 months early, but I`m still in pocket. I asked O2 if mobile accounts can be linked to the package for a better discount/deal. `Not yet, but we`re looking at it`was the reply.0
