I have noticed in a few of my pots the leaves are turning black at the tips and curling up a little. In one pot some Iris bulbs were doing very well but the leaves look like they have been singed and have funny creases at the ends too.

what could this be??

My peace lily has a tendency to do this.
It is usually caused by my (poor) watering habits.

    So best guesses,

    over or under watering.
Too much or too little fertilizer.
    Plants are getting too hot.

I water regularly and I don't think it's over watering-it could be the heat as they were all in an area that is exposed to the sun for much of the day?

I have given it some thought and I think it may be drainage perhaps? The pots were standing in grass-not bothered about the grass because I will be taking up that strip for another bed in the autumn but I think the fact the pots were sitting on grass may be a reason. I have moved them now and will see if it makes a difference.

I'm not sure that the pots standing on grass should make any difference to the drainage as long as there is a hole in the bottom of the pot. Mine stand on the patio, some in saucers, some not. What's growing in the pots or is it just iris bulbs?
If you water in the morning and drench the leaves and it is a sunny day, then it could be scorching.
