Hello forum,
I have just joined this site and would like to know if any members have heard of a Company called Roxburghe debt collection. I received a letter from them demanding a large amount of money that they say is outstanding from 5 years ago. They want my housing agreements to prove where I am and was living during this time and my driving licence. They say the monies were owed and would be passed onto a solicitor within 7 days to take me to court for a ccj to be made out against me. I have no proof from them of the loan agreement or proof of my signature. do I pay or do I wait to see what happens. I am getting a bit worried by this action. They seem to have the same address as their so called solicitors.
Can any member cast some light on this. Thank you.

You'd be better posting over in the debt forum
But i believe (i would double check this though as i am by no means an expert) they need to prove you are liable for the debt. If you ask them for a copy of the agreement etc, they should provide it to you.
Below is a link that has some useful templates but as advised, ask in the debt forum for better answers
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2305463You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Ignore them until they've come up with some proof that you are the person who owes the debt and that you are obliged to pay them. Yes I am serious.
Or if you feel you ought to do something then use one of the "prove it" template letters floating around the debt free wannabe boards (follow the instructions carefully and ask there for help if you are unsure of anything, it is important that you get things right in how you talk to these people). A poster called Never In Doubt has some good advice in this regard around those parts.
Certainly don't give them copies (or god forbid originals) of your documents.
Debt collectors are not bailiffs and cannot legally compel you to do anything. They can't visit your property and stay against your will, they can't order you to provide them with documents and they certainly can't take your goods away from you or force you to hand over money just like that, so please relax.
If you do owe a debt from way back 5 years ago then there's also the issue of when the debt becomes statue barred to consider before you even think of giving them so much as a bent penny. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
If it is not your debt, you do not have to provide details of where you lived or any other information. See the OFT guidance here.
Paragraph 2.8j says you don't have to (and specifically cites demanding a driving licence as an unfair practice).0
