hi people i really need some help and advice.
i have 5 catalogues and have been charged ridiculous amounts of late payment fees over the past 2 years but more to my horror i have been getting charged2 sometimes 3 times a month for
1.late payment fee
2.being in arrears on the account
3.for them sending me a letter stating i owe them money
now to me being charged £12 to send a letter through my door is absolutly ridiulous. i have rang all 5 catalogue companies asking to send me all my statements from all accounts from statement 1 to the present day and have been told its going to cost me £25 to receive this information.
i basically want to know can i recaim these charges and if so how do i go about re claiming them.
if anyone has a link to a form that can be filled out online this would be great.
MANY THANKS x:)

Hi there
I don't normally help on these matters, but maybe it would be cheaper to request Subject Access Request in short known as a SAR, they have to send all they hold on your account with a cost of £10 cheque or postal order payment, and they have 40 calendar days to comply.
There is a SAR you can use here if you want to.....

You should therefore receive more than the statements with this.
Good luck and hope someone can then advise you on the other matters.;)

Are the charges in line with the companies' terms and conditions (which you would have had to accept in order to open the accounts), or are you saying they are incorrect or duplicated ?

they have charged me 2 sometimes 3 times a month for
1 .not receiving minimum payment
2. debt collection telephone call fee
3. being in arrears on the account
4. sending a letter out
5. and late payment fees
so sometimes i have had charges mounting up to £36 for one month.
im not sure about the charges on the terms and conditions when i ticked the box i just feel they are unfair. i have now sent them a sar letter and am waiting for their reply. i have 5 catalogues and i do know that one of them i have had since 2008 and they have charged me £144 in charges only since 2009 so god knowsw for the year before and what charges total up to ont he others.
when i receive a reply from the company i am almost certain they are going to tell me that there charges are fair which i believe their not. where do i go from there? do i send them a preliminary letter? if so can anybody find a suitable prelim letter that i could maybe send off to them.
any help i very much appreciated x

I'm pretty sure the terms won't say they are allowed to charge you 2 or 3 times for sending just 1 letter.
If you believe that is what has happened, a quick phone call to them should clarify matters.
If you really believe the charges are unfair, you'll need to go to court and get a judge to agreee with you."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
i have sent them a subject of something letter and am waiting for my statements from them, i know they are going to say the charges are fair but i know there not! being charged 3 times a month is ridiculous.
once i receive the statements im going to send them a letter asking them to refudn my charges and if they dont then i think i will have to send them a preliminary letter and then a notice before action letter.0
