PS3 Sing star/Sing it

Hello

My daughter has the HSM Sing it game with the two microphones. I was wondering if the mics for Sing it would also work with Sing Star games? Plus do you have to have a Sing star game before you can download the songs on Playstation Store? She wants Lady Gaga, but I don't want to pay £4.95 if it won't work!

My niece has managed to use mics from one on another game brand. not with those exact games mind you. But you can buy 3rd party mics so it must be for all games (its the hardware interfacing with the playstation, not the game)
Strangely enough I've heard you can use some ps2/3 mics (logitech usually)on other consoles like the xbox and sometimes Wii although not all makes of mic. don't quote me on it though.
