what would happen if someone on income based esa moves in with someone on income based jsa?

i know couples rates for jsa and essa are £100.95 a week or something, bit what happens if they are both on different benefits?
2 esa medicals passed successfully (support group - it can be done!!)!! :j

The amount the law says you need to live on as a couple is £102.75 plus your additional ESA component (because you passed your WCA).

Your partner probably doesn't need to continue signing on as it's likely you can claim for him/her. Just bear in mind they'd no longer get the NI credits though

idvi, I've just looked at another of your posts in the link you gave which also has another link in it !!

If you're still on DLA mid rate care and someone moves in with you you'll lose your severe disability premium which should currently be paid with your ESA. However your partner to be could then claim Carers Allowance so you'd also get the carers premium paid

It was the same when it was income support, it's not a recent development.

isnt this quite bad?? the healthy partner has no incentive to find a job (if they are happy to live off benefits)

    surelyits time limited or something?

They have to go for a work-focused interview every 6-12 months. Well, they did on IS, don't know about ESA.

just seems like a big hole in the system to me. why cant they be made to sign on? what reason is there? government way of keeping unemployment figures down?
(obviously unless they are claiming carers)
