Student possessions insurance

I wasn't too sure whether to place this post here or on the Students Board.

Does anyone have any experience of hunting around for insurance to cover a student's belongings while they're at college?

Is there any provider recognised as giving the best deal?

I believe the only company that does this is Endsleigh. I found a couple of others once, but then found they were going through an Endsleigh search engine anyway. They are at https://www.endsleigh.co.uk or look in your yellow pages or wherever for your nearest branch.

Thats quite correct. Ask you folks (presuming you are not a mature student!) to contact their insurer. Also, if you have a PT job or are part of a union, ask if they have any insurance they have deals with.

  • There has been about 4 threads on this in the last month. Heres the basics:

try Barlcays online. allow you monthly direct debit payments also if desired, and at no extra cost. I saved about 18% compared to endsleigh, where i have been a customer for 3 years.

Endsleigh are a rip off, only reason they have so much of the market is due to their presence. - their policies do however include 'doors open' insurance. Might be useful to some.

royal bank of scotland / natwest also offer quotes online.

hsbc are competative, however no direct debit option if under £100.

Welcome, bud-miser. There's no shame in asking!

Parents insurance gets my vote as well; check with the insurer because some offer it for free!
