Green peppers-Looking sad

picture032kl3.jpg

My plant was doing ok until the last couple of weeks where I think I just didnt water it enough. There are some young buds still coming up... So I probably haven't totally killed it. Any ideas on how to keep it alive?

  • he looks a bit burned to me! is this possible?

plenty of water and he should be fine. pepper plants are quite hardy. I've grown LOADS of chillis this year for the first time, havn't managed to kill a single one, and they've had plenty of abuse. The only near miss came when I left them in the plastic greenhouse thing when it was really hot outside, then they looked a bit like yours... but they made it!
  • Well silly me.... I think he's in the sunniest part of the south facing garden... perhaps a bit of shade will help. Will move it ASAP and I will definitely water it more... Is once a day too much? Thanks for the tips!

  • Well its been pretty cool and wet here (midlands), I dunno how things have been where you are, so I can't really say if this is definately it... I'd move him somewhere shadier, but not completely out of the sun all day..

Watering once a day should be fine if its hot, else every couple of days is fine. If the soil looks moist, then don't worry but if its dry then definately give him a drink.
  • OP, where do you get these pepper plants/seeds from, and the chilli plants too; chem14346777? i LOVE growing plants; especially ones that you can eat and cook with..

    thanks

  • Pepper plants are notoriously difficult to grow. I have tried for a couple of years in the greenhouse and have ended up with really small ones. Don't think you will be able to gro peppers like the ones you get at the supermarkets. Let me know is you can.

  • Our chilli plant is doing well 99p from Warrington farm!! Bargain!

Do the chillis turn colour from green to red, how do they ripen.

We have picked 3 massive light green ones, look like they need to turn darker green though??
  • Just to say my plant is looking a lot healthier already. Have been watering him every other day and moved him out of the direct sun. Thanks again to all. C

    Hi,

grew all my plants (30 odd) from seeds I got from ebay.. growing about 10 different variety of chilli peppers and normal red peppers.. My first year with them, and they were really easy to grow.

Just starting to get the benefits from them now, its chilli for tea again tonight!
