DLA -Indefinite Award Success for HRC &HRM

I previously let you know that I had been granted HRC indefinitely and HRM for two years back in May.
That was after an initial renewal of only one year for both, to which I asked for a re-assessment in April.
I originally received the renewal forms in December 2009 for renewal May 2010.
After reading all the posts I was really scared to ask for another re-assessment of the 2 year HRM, but in a moment of madness (and support from my G.P) I wrote back asking for them to have another look at the time of the Mobility Award (within the 28 days allowed) - knowing they may look at my Indefinite HRC again as well as the Mobility.
Last week I got a very thin brown envelope - Sorry No Decision Yet.
You get to know the feel of the brown envelope very well.
Today a thick brown envelope. Inside horrible new cream coloured re-cycled paper, but a letter from Heaven. Indefinite HRC and HRM:A.
It's taken 10 years, previous awards for 2;3 and 4 years, but it is still possible. What will happen with indefinite awards in the future who knows.
I received no help in completing the forms or with my letters, as the CAB would not help me -DUE TO MEANS TESTING- and Dial could/would not help because it wasn't a new claim and I didn't know about Welfare Rights at the time.
The form for free Car Tax has changed. It's now 3 pages at the back of your award letter, which you complete and take the the Post Office. It only counts for one renewal. You automatically get sent new forms for the following year if eligible.
Hope this information is helpful. At the end of the day I had the cougage of my convictions and it was the right thing for me to appeal, but the stress was unbelievable and I would be telling a very different story if things had had a different outcome.
Now I am going to celebrate by going into my garden and hopefully cutting a few Sweet Peas, it's a shame there's no sun here, but very dry, so not many flowers.

CONGRATULATIONS SAVERSUE, I'm so pleased it worked out for you the same as it did for me!
When I had my reconsideration done in March, as I too sent them a letter asking them to look at my award again, I remember how I felt when I too was awarded HRC and HRM INDEFINITELY!
With regards the car tax, I didn't have any form at the back of my letters but my 'certificate of Entitlement to DLA' form (which I take to the post office) is full and will need to send it back before my tax is due to receive a new one - unless they send me one out before this.
Well done again, I know the whole process is so draining and stressfull.0 -
arent the government reassessing all dla claims in 2013, whether they were indefinite or not? (i may have heard wrong though(2 esa medicals passed successfully (support group - it can be done!!)!! :j0

Thanks Tobruk, nice to hear from you.
I can't begin to explain how relieved I am, you know how it feels.
I didn't understand the new Car Tax Forms and rang up Blackpool, partly to double check the award as all it had was a start date and no end date and to ask about the new Car Tax Form.
I was told the award should of had INDEFINITE printed and they would send me a new set as it was confusing just to have a start date.
I also asked about the Car Tax Form as I wanted to know if I should send my old one back which was only dated until May 2011. I was told that the new form Certificate of Entitlement which has a Serial Number as well as your NI No is the replacement for the older type forms with room to renew up to 4 times.
It says please read inclosed leaflet DLA403, but it wasn't enclosed!
It states "This certificate of entitlement can only be used once to get a free vehicle tax disc".
It has a space for a Post Office stamp and a DVLA Office Stamp.
So I think the Post Office must retain it and pass it on to DVLA who will sent out a new one if you are entitled.
Not certain about this bit, but expect someone will know. But was definitely told it would get automatically renewed.0
