Hi,
I live in the top floor of a building. There are 2 residential flats at the top (me and a neighbour) a snooker club in the middle, then a pub on the bottom floor.
A guy from the snooker club came up yesterday to say that their ceiling had fallen in - went down to look and its all fallen down due to water. They are asking for insurance details and saying it must be from my flat. I've no leaks in my flat apart from my boiler which leaks slightly from the overflow but not to a great extent. Water pressure is fine in flat, no water anywhere etc.
The part of the roof above where theres has fallen in, is in a small room with no sink, washing machine or anything.
How do I find out where the leak has come from and who is liable to pay? Am I right in thinking that if its a problem with the roof then everyone in building needs to pay it but if its a pipe under my floor then its my responsibility? I own the flat and obv have buildings and contents insurance but dont want to pay out until I know exactly whats caused it etc.
Any advice appreciated!!

open up your floor and have a peak, water damage in a ceiling isn't always from diectly above - even so, the insurance company will probably try to find any excuse not to pay out, if there's anyway to avoid a pay out, they'll find it!This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
