I'm looking to replace my laptop and am looking for suggestions. I'm looking for a 15" one with a low to mid range graphics card.
I'm thinking about buying a Dell Studio 15. I've also looked into the HP Envy, but the price is too high.
I copied these questions from a different site:
1) What is your budget?
£700. Would prefer to spend around £600
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
14 to 15.6 inch
3) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
If it was a great price
4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Law school work, light occasional gaming
5) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Mainly on desk, but some carrying. Weight is not a concern
6) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
PES 2010, doesn't have to be on highest settings
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Not a huge concern, a couple
8) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
Online is fine
9) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
Windows 7
10) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
Not a huge concern. I would use the screen as a tie breaker
11) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Not really, as long as it isn't really ugly
12) When are you buying this laptop?
within next few weeks
13) How long do you want this laptop to last?
My current laptop has lasted 5 years. I would expect my next laptop to last at least 3 years
14) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive?
250GB at minimum
15) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
Yes, DVD Burner
