Could I get a refund from the Chiropractor?

Hiya

I've recently had some serious problems with my back, and was advised by a friend to go to a Chiropractor. I went to the most local one to myself, as travelling was a problem (could not sit down for too long, or stand... very painful and annoying)
I had many prescription drugs given to me by my GP, I was pretty much in a daze for 4 weeks.
Anyway, I went to this chiro, first appt was very expensive as it is longer, then they required me to have one of their X-rays at £64... on top of the initial consultation.
I had I believe 8 or 9 sessions in total, each costing £35 a go. The pain never went away, the times and treatments never really varied (apart from getting shorter and less manipulation!) I took the X-ray to my doctor as after about 4 sessions I was getting close to my wits end, the GP looked at it and pretty much said "this is a crap x-ray, I cant see anything". And referred me for an MRI scan of which I am waiting for the results.

Since then I gave into a friend who advised me to go to an Osteopath. After ONE SESSION the pain had 90% gone. I've had two sessions from the osteo, and cannot believe the transformation.

My predicament is, that while I did go to a different practitioner, and there is no "money back guarantee" from this particular chiro, I would hope there is a way I could get back at least part of my money as they did not stop the treatment when it wasn't working, or offer me alternatives. Actually- one did -but he said "massage might be good, we do it here, so you could have a session with me then pay for a massage session with one of the others"... Erm say what?

Anyone had a similar situation? Anyone know what I can do?

Chiropractors are not medically trained in anyway whatsoever, you can draw your own conclusions from that. Needless to say they are in the same classification as homeopaths and psychics in touting nonsense to people who will pay.

Stick with the osteopaths, at least they are legitamate profesionals and medically trained.

It's 'alternative' medicine. No guarantees of any effects (to be fair, you often can't guarantee the result of mainstream treatments in an individual case either). You can ask but I doubt you'll get anywhere.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

Chiropractic is quackery at it's finest. It almost seems legitimate - but the aspects of it that could possibly help with your back are covered by osteopathy.
