Mental Orientals.... and Siamese!

Options
Hey guys,
Happy Monday!

My little red pointed siamese- Jafar was 1 year old last week and he is such a little character, he literally cracks me up everyday! :rotfl:
So I thought I would appeal to any of you lovely Siamese/Oriental cat owners to share your cats' bizarre habits!......

Jafar has recently developed a love of carrying his toys around the house in his mouth and then always dropping them into his food bowl! Anyone tell me why this is?!? Its so sweet to see him wandering around with a pipe-cleaner spider hanging out of his gob- I love it but I have no idea why he does it! :rotfl:

    Aw Happy Birthday Jafar! :j

I don't have an Oriental cat however Charlie (who's a ragdoll) also does the toy carrying thing! He'll carry them around for ages then eventually he'll take them to his box (that he loves hiding in) and will dump them in there! You're right, its so cute to watch them walking around with them in their mouth! Especially as Charlie normally picks the biggest toy he can find and he ends up tripping himself up with it whilst carrying it! :rotfl:

We have two boys that are half siamese and Smokey is pretty much every inch siamese. He does so many funny things and is a real character...as well as being so annoying! He constantly chatters to us, moaning all the time :) a couple of times a day he will literally spend a while just running round the house like an idiot, leaping onto things because he's so slim and tall. We never knew siamese cats had such funny personalities, but we love how unique he is :)
  • I don't have a cat, but my puppy does the same :rotfl:

She will carry her toys round in her mouth all the time, prefers to drop them in the water rather than the food, then picks them back up and makes more mess dripping water everywhere!

When we first got her we gave her my old dressing gown in her bed as it had my smell on it, she sometimes chews the belt off it as it helps with teething, but the majority of the time she just walks around with the belt draped round her neck and flipped over one ear!!! :rotfl:

I have two Burmese and all sorts of things get dropped into the water bowl.

Going to the loo is a public event, I get up to go and everyone comes with me.

Delilah likes to play fetch with rolled up paper. Strangely both do not like proper cat toys.

I know what you mean about not liking proper cat toys too much! Jafar loves anything but (although he does love his spider!).

And funnily enough- whenever I go to the loo he follows me and tries to climb on my lap, if I go to the loo and he hasnt noticed... he then walks down the hallway and stops in the middle and does a miaow that sounds like 'muuuuum?' 'muuuum?' until I call his name and he comes running! I have two bathrooms at either end of the hallway so its like he is calling out to check which one I am in! What a nutter!

I love the fact that Siamese have different 'talks' for different things- my favourite is definately 'muuum!'

Oh and whilst we are on the subject of Siamese cats- I am off to Thailand at the end of the month and wondered if anyone can tell me if the 'Cat Palace' actually exists? I have heard people mention it before and as a Siamese-lover I would love to learn more about their history while I am there. Can anyone shed some light on this? Or is it just a made-up place?
Does anyone know where or what I can find out before I fly out about Siamese cats in Thailand? I have done a few google searches but cant bring much up.....

    Any help much appreciated!

Last time we were in Thailand we took a trip from Bangkok to the Bridge over the River Kwai. I have no idea what road we were travelling on but we passed a Siamese Cat Centre (looked like quite a large place) - I wanted to stop but the driver couldn't speak English and no-one else seemed particularly interested :(. Sorry I can't be more specific. HTH :D.

Am really envious about your trip LOL!!

I went to Thailand this year for 3 weeks and travelled about the country and much to my disappointment I didnt see one Siamese!!!!!, I did see a few scratty temple cats but no designer kitties.
If you go to Chang Mai, I can highly recommend the Tiger Sanctuary, most definitely NOT drugged or declawed.

I have one oriental and a havana, the oriental will play fetch, preferably with one of the wifes many bobbles, and she will play for hours jumping and chasing after the bobble.
She also has a small wooly fish that she like to drop in the water bowl then your lap.

The oriental, loves being pushed around the groundfloor, comes in handy for polishing the wooden floors.

On sunday they both cornered a wasp and were batting it, annoyed wasp headed straight for wife stung her, flew at me and stung me. Cats Ok though!

Great, thanks for the tips guys- yes I cant wait til I go!
I must admit I was really shocked when you mentioned that the tigers over there are often drugged or de-clawed. That is truly horrendous.... I really cant get my head around that, its so sad.

Will let you know if I find anything Siamese/Oriental related when I am there- I really hope I do find something interesting- the Siamese cat centre certainly sounds interesting.

As for you DKLS and your wife.... that is one mean trick your cats played on you two! haha. I must admit it did make me chuckle :-)

I bought a new houseplant on Sunday and after coming home from work yesterday I seriously expected to come home to house plant vs cat carnage but to my suprise Jafar had left it well and truly alone! Result!
Mind you, I shouldnt speak too soon as it could be cat vs houseplant today or any other day of the week! lol.
