Ebay expensive jewellery?

My mother has left me two rings, she had them valued for aobut £1800 for insurance purposes a few years ago. Anyway the time has come to sell them. I would think that ebay might be the best place to sell them, but am concerned about letting them go too cheaply.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how we sell them?

Thx.

    Put a reserve on them

It costs a little more to sell the item that way but if you dont get the price you want the item goes unsold, and you could look at other ways of selling.
  • Dont do it !!!

Jewellery on ebay sells at around 20-50% less than its true value, if you can provide a certificate stating authenticity it helps but with the added hassle of the scams, non-payers and mental hospital escapees (the only explanation in some cases !!) Its really not going to be worth your time.

A private local jewellers is your best bet for advice on auction houses etc,

  • Perhaps I will take them to Peacocks auctions in Bedford costs nothing, and I might get some good advice.

I couldn't agree more with mishkanorman. Take it to a lcal jeweller that can give you a price to sell it on. At least then you've got an idea of what to expect.
