I am £250 in credit with my utility company. Am I, therefore, entitled to request a refund of the £250. I have checked their terms and conditions but can't find any reference to this.

You are, but your DD arrangement is normally set up to leave the account in Credit during the Summer months to pay towards the higher consumption in the Autumn/Winter months - is your credit not a reflection of this model of operation? My account is also in credit now, but I know it will be all but gone by the end of the year.0 -

Thanks for the response. Our usage has actually dropped significantly, since my wife no longer works from home, so i've worked out we can have the refund and still cover our likely bills till the end of the year. I have actually just phoned and asked for the refund. They took my current readings and adjusted the credit to reflect this and are sending two cheques in the post.

That's great news. It's surprising just how much working at home adds to the bills, but if the alternative is expensive travel I guess there isn't really much in it.0
