Will my own bank have done a credit search?

I took a First Direct credit card out at the end of March (my own bank) in order to take advantage of 15 months balance transfer. It was agreed immediately.
I am now considering applying for a Sainsburys credit card for the 12 months 0% on purchases. I'm just wondering if there will be a search on my file from the first direct card which may affect the application.

I don't think that they would have done one, they get a monthly data feed from your report on monthly basis, unless they saw something unusual but you could check your report with experian to be sure, always advise your report before any new application. Even if FD had done a search then it would have very little impact on your application with sainsburys, they would see anyway that you have a credit card account0

They will have either done a soft search on Call Credit (if you had been pre-approved) or a full search with Experian (if you hadn't).
Either way, one search isn't going to make any difference to your ability to get another credit card.
What will, however, make a difference is the fact that your FD credit card is only four months old and as such will be considered by lenders to be a new commitment.
You may find it hard to get the deal you want until your FD credit card is a bit older, and whilst you may still be approved for a new card with your FD account being so young, you may not get the APR / Limit you'd have otherwise got if you'd have waited for longer.
It would be wise to wait until you've held your FD card for at least 6 ~ 9 months before applying elsewhereCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
