is there a way to stop doorstep pests?

Options
i had a knock at the door earlier and it was southern electric trying to get me to switch supplier. i told them twice i was interested in what they had to sell (but we arent selling anything) and so i said am not interested in switching supplier.

they only backed off when cain (my dog) poked his head out the gap in the door (i wouldnt have let him out there, hes very friendly but i understand some poeple are scared of dogs and would never use mine as a weapon.

anyway, sorry waffling on..... is there such a thing like TPS where you can ask to stop getting calls such as this? they call every 3-6 months as do other energy companies.

thinking about it arent southern electric who used to be london electric? if they are then im already a customer :rotfl:

Not sure if this is any help but our district council gives out stickers you can attach to your front door telling door to door people not to bother ringing the bell (or words to that effect).

Maybe you could call them and see if your DC do something similar.

    Tell them your renting.

Or tell them you're moving next week.

Or say your mum isn't in at the moment :rotfl:

Or ignore the door - thats what I do. My kids usually look out of hte window and if they say its a 'suit' I dont even bother moving :o
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • My Mum, who is extremely well mannered and cultured, simply says 'Pi55 off' and slams the door in their face :o

    It's a joy to watch ;)
    de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar ;)
  • Just say "Not interested" and close the door. it usually works for me ;)

Having said that I had a couple of these idiots knock the door a few weeks ago and was actually arguing with me that LEB were supplying our electricity when in fact it's Powergen.
As we were on a pre paid meter at the time I said to wait there and I'll get the key and he followed me into the hallway
Needless to say he left pretty sharpish and funnily enough no-one has knocked since

Some areas like Neighbourhood watch areas have signs up informing sellers that they are not wanted, there was on recently put in primarily my home town, primarily in an area that is mainly housed with pensioners.

Most reputable companies or so they claim on BBC Radio4, You and Yours a few moths back said that they will not uses those areas.

I have one of those stickers in door window, I still get some people probably does help.
