Thanks guys for your posts following my post. I didn't appreciate that other forums aren't as friendly as this one - I rarely venture out nowadays! Hope your neighbour gets his ticket sorted, redbull. And as to the rest of you - thanks! You really are a lovely bunch!

hi folks
just to ask on behalf of my neighbour who has a blue disabled badge
he forgot to put it up today when in doctors & came out to a £30 parking fine
does he have a case for fighting this?
it was a genuine slip up
also if he drives into a pay & display car park & the disabled spaces are gone (full)
does he need to pay if he parks in a normal space within the pay and display
thanks in leiu
Hiya Redbull only just had a quick read back & found this post
I have a blue badge and at my council if all the bays are full I can park in a non disabled bay. However, some councils still charge for parking even with a blue badge but sometimes at a reduced rate. They also normally have on road parking which is normally free for upto 3 hours. His best bit on the car parks is to ring the council and ask. He just needs to ask to speak to the dept that deals with the car parking or he could check out their website as they normally have something on them too about it.
You can check out the general rules here:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/disabledpeople/motoringandtransport/dg_4001061
& here: http://www.dft.gov.uk/transportforyou/access/bluebadge/localauthorities/
or the Scottish one here:
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2006/10/03111546/0
As for the doctors, he could appeal and say that the blue badge had slipped off the dashboard onto the floor and he was unaware of it. If it is the first time he may get lucky and they quash the fine otherwise, no he can't get away with not displaying it. He should also have been displaying the timer wheel too.
Hope your nieghbour can manage to get it quashed, I wrote a letter for a mate to a supermarket who had given him a fine and that succeeded. Good Luck
I have to go off to the supermarket in a minute worse luck I hate it. The kids are here this weekend so will be busy again. Sorry I haven't had time to pop in for chats.
NNW hope the tests went OK yesterday it will be better when you get the results so you can relax a bit. It could just be stress that is doing it.
Have a lucky day all
