Constantly retuning TV

Options
Hi

Any idea why we constantly have to digitally retune our TV? It's getting ridiculous when you can't watch an episode of Come Dine With Me without tunind it twice????????????

You don't say what make and model.

However, on some models once you have scanned in the channels you need to "save" them. Maybe check the manual to see what your model requires.

Ah! It's a Sony Bravia. The channels are there - but the picture breaks up and becomes progressively worse. I wondered if there was something wrong with my cable, but maybe I haven't saved the channels??

If its as you describe you are not watching digital channels.
With digital then the picture is either there and good or non existent.

Nonsense. A poor digital signal can and will have picture breakup, corrupted frames, etc.

    Like that.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Agreed, sounds more like an aerial problem especially if they are in a poor reception area.

Probably is aerial or cable/connections, but don't discount outside interference, such as a cordless phone/base transmitter located within a meter or two of your set top box, or any other transmitting/high power device. If your aerial etc seem ok, it might be worth disconnecting everything near by apart from what you need to watch digital tv and see if it works ok, then you can connect everything one at a time to isolate the gremlin. Sometimes its the little things that cause the biggest problem

True but the OP was describing a progressive degradation of their picture.

Have you got a separate digital tuner box just to rule out a problem with the TV?

When I've had problems like that, it has always been the ariel. Might be worth having yours upgraded/boosted.
