I've made 2 this year, very basic 9 square patch, but they look so effective.
I am starting another one after my 7wk hols ending in Sept: with material I bought a few weeks ago in America.
Also had about 30 rolls of material donated by a big company recently, so will no doubt be thinking of making more exciting one's in the future. We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................0 -
TGR Quiltville is another amazing site I use often. It has lots of inspiration, from how to use scraps up to the wonderful quilt patterns and how to's that she shares. Have fun ladies, you may need a cuppa when you sit down to that one. I hope you didn't think I was being patronising when I sent the firsdt link, but you said youhad never quilted before and I didn't want to put you off before you started if you see what I mean.
Lilaclilly those are beautful, thanks for showing them0 -

Not at all, I have been reading all the link and got some great ideas off them, Think I know how I am going to go about it now. My mum is coming later and bringing her sewing machine, and I'm sure she will have great ideas too as she is very good at things like this.0 -
I'm making a string quilt for DD who marries next year - great way of using up lots of bits.
I'm al;so tempted by whta the Americans call 'crumb' quilts:

Luxor4t have you seen the free patterns on eeschenks site? There are some really nice ones there. Here is the link if you would care for it. When the page loads look to the left and click on Quilts and Projects, those patterns are all free, if you click the Patterns link at the top the patterns there are for sale

i've making one at the moment. my mil looked at the book, asked a friend a few questions then passed on the basic info to me and i then started to make on. and hopefully it should be finished by end of week depending on when my next stash of supplies arrive from ebay. in the mean time i've started to make my second one. ( i'm making two quilts in shades of purple to go on the backs of our sofas)
my biggest tip is use 2oz wadding. i've used the previously and find it easy to work with. my mil is using 4 oz for her quilt she making for my lil girls bed and she said she is finding it really hard going . as it so thick to work with.0
