well with the first 18 years ago when I was 18...I did it by machine with fabric from liberty/ sanderson samples - I cut all the pieces and sewed them into strips and many of the strips together - but then I moved house about 8 times (student etc) and it got sent back to mums and never finished.
Then abount 5 years ago I started buying stuff to make an all white hand sewn one - thats as far as I got. I blame hubby for never getting round to making me a template!
I've come to the conclusion I'm more of a ideas person than a finisher/ completer!!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Hi PNF,
By coincidence, my friend invited me to join her quilting group starting last Friday. I have done some textile work but I would not call myself an expert, more an enthusiastic amateur. I started the most basis rail fence quilt with oddments of material she had with her. The standard of work was everything from beginner (me
) to breathtaking. I think I will be going down the road of using what I have rather than buying new fabric, at least for the time being. I'm already thinking of cheaper/greener options (walk before you run TGR!!!!). If you can join a group, you will get support, tuition and a social event, I would recommend it. I am in Staffordshire, anyone in the area needs the details let me know.

Thanks so much for the replies, I think I will look into groups see if I can find one. I was going to use old clothes of the husbands mine and the childrens and if I needed more go to charity shops and look for interesting clothes.0

Hi again,
I came across these links whilst looking for advice. There are some good ideas for repurposing old clothes and using the very smallest pieces of leftover fabric.
