Hello,
I wonder if anyone would be able to tell me what I will be paying for central heating.
I have an old floor standing boiler and an assortment of radiators. I do not have a radiator in the lounge.
I would like to replace the boiler, get new radiators and remove water tank and water storage thing in box room.
Our house is a three bedroom, two receptions, kitchen etc sized house.
We are on a tight budget and any advice would be gratefully received.
Also any work we can do ourselves we are willing to do so if it is safe to do so!
Thanks!

Much of the cost of a Central Heating installation is linked to the type and specification of boiler you wish to install.
I have recently been quoted £2500 for the installation of an Ideal Combination boiler and 8 radiators, which from looking at various posts on this forum appears to be reasonable.
I believe that a quote from British Gas to do the same work would be nearer the £4000 mark
I would recommend getting a local heating engineer to have a look and provide you with a quote and specification to meet your requirements.
If possible ask for a recommendation from family\friends\colleagues etc.0 -

Dependingon the existing system and if there are likely to be any latent faults etc, you should be looking at around £2500 to £3000 if you want a combi and a radiator. Your gas main from your meter may have to be upgraded to 22mm and you need a condense drain from the new boiler.0 -
This steel price can vary. We had our central heating installed in April 2005 and just for a 2-up 2-down terrace it was £4,000. We had previously thought it would be about the £2,500-£3,000 mark but the price of steel had pushed up the radiator price significantly.0

last year we had our existing floor standing boiler removed along with all old rads, header tank, cold water tank, hot water tank etc. and a Worcester Bosch condensing combi plus 8 new rads fitted for £3200 - this also included re plumbing for new kitchen (which I was doing at the same time), fitting gas hob and sink0
