Installing a Cooker Hood - Also, anyone heard of Ignis?

Hi
I am looking to install a cooker hood,, not one that is ducted, just a basic no holes through the ceiling one.
Do i need a plug socket at the top of the cupboard (that it would be sitting under) as currently there isn't one that high - they are at work surface level. In which case i will probably have to get an electrician in.
Also, has anyone heard of the manufacturer "Ignis" - i think i've found a decent hood, and the price is cheaper than on the net (mainly beacause it's a local shop and no delivery costs) - though i haven't heard of the brand.
