In your position I would change the lock myself and take the key to her. At least that solves your security. I would not waste time arguing.

If she does not like it, she must change to lock herself at the end of the tenancy and argue the toss with the Deposit Protection Scheme.

I should have done this from the start I think. Thanks.

As I understand it, you are going way beyond your responsibilities by allowing entry to your dwelling when you are not there. You don't even have to allow it at all even if you are there..

If she still grumbles just point this out and refuse to allow any entry or inspection whatsoever until you have vacated the premises. That'll larn 'er

Yes, but reasonable costs, not LL-makes-it-up-as-she-goes-along costs

But if the key had not got lost in the post

    And she had recieved it

She would have carried on as normal, no?

Simply handing the key to the next tenant?

So what stops you copying that key and entering the property afterwards and stealing stuff. Or passing the key to the local !!!!!? ( cant believe this was edited out, criminal gang)

This isnt about security, its about stuffing you financially.

Have you now moved out? I take it you dont have access anymore?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Exactly! Plus, even if she does it her way, I'm still going to need a key of the new lock until I move out, so I can copy that any time too! (in till August)
