Unless specified otherwise, you already have minimum cover by law but that only covers third party, not fire, theft or damage.0

A policy issued in any EU country (inc the UK) must provide the legal minimum cover required in any other EU county. This is generally about the level of third party cover in this country.
If you have fully comp and want the same while you are abroad you need to read your policy, some insurers automatically provide the cover for free, some do but only if you notify them when you are going and some require payment of an additional premium.0 -
Check with your insurer. See what your existing policy covers. If it is not already covered, ask how much to extend the cover and compare to other companies if it seems a lot. HTH.Please call me 'Pickle'

As a rough guide, if you insure through a direct or internet company then it's highly likely that you'll be charge an additional premium to upgrade cover to fully comp whilst abroad.The man without a signature.0
