Bank Transfers

Not sure this is posted in correct section, but hoping I can get some answers.

Somebody I know has asked me to pay for a product I'm buying via Bank Transfer.

What I want to know is there any 'protection' as such, in case they don't send the product?

Thanks,

Dave

So if it does turn out to be dodgy, there is no way of getting my money back at all?

It's like paying them in cash.

If you think it's dodgy then don't buy it.

You could sue them, but this is a hassle and is no good if they have done a runner/gone bankrupt/etc.

It's not that I don't trust them, I'm just a bit weary as I've never used bank transfer before.

If you trust the person and that they will deliver, then a bank transfer is just another way of paying in cash. Just sometimes a lot easier (i.e. your friend, John or whatever, doesn't have to go to the bank to deposit the cash, the money will already be in the bank).

Can you provide a little more information? How much is involved?

Is it somebody you know or a local business you trust? If not beware - once the money is sent you have no comeback.

Is it not possible to pay by credit card or debit card?
