my bath plug is blocked with probably hair and other crap.
the water is draining away soooo slowly.
have tried to plunge but the force cause the pipes to come apart.
my oh has now put the pipes back.
is there anything i can put down the plug which might dissolve the hair and gunk????
thanks

Wire coat hanger will hook out most of it. Or take the u bend off and pull it out from the bottom.0

Yes, agreed, or a crochet hook if you have one.
It's a really revolting job, but there's a horrid satisfaction in hooking out and throwing away all the gunk.............:eek:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I got so fed up with my sink (tried hangers, plungers, boiling water, bleach etc in the end I just bought MR Muscle sink and plughole unblocker thingie and it's been as clear as a whistle ever since.
Worth every penny considering the time it would have saved me if I'd used it in the first place!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Using hair remover (Immac and the like) is supposed to be very good. However, I would have thought it a rather expensive way of doing it - Mr Muscle probably a lot cheaper!0

I once accidentally discovered, by putting rather a lot of hair conditioner (that my daughter had had for so long it had gone rancid) down the sink, that it carried all sorts of horrid stuff out with it. But for a truly blocked sink I'd grit my teeth and buy Mr Muscle.
It this then definitely worth buying a sink guard (kind of perforated metal lid) and clearing it daily. I got mine from Wilkinson's: 2 different sizes in a pack, dirt cheap.0 -
hi, thanks for the replies. i tried a wire coat hanger but it just seemed to push it further down.
so i had a brain wave and used my dyson to suck it up...uurrgghh it was gross.
worked a treat....
but my oh has told me off for mixing electricity and water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh well at least i have a flowing bath plug.
thanks

Some of the ideas on this older thread might help:
HELP! Drain blocked nothing seems to clear it!

Mr Muscle drain cleaning gel is powerful stuff and will clear just about anything, I have found. Leave it in overnight.
The last time I bought it, it was £1.49 in Tesco, so I bought 3 bottles. There are more expensive variants (e.g., quite a few "foaming" products), but they don't seem to do any better.0 -
I second the Mr Muscle idea, I've used it succesfully on a few problems. The Foaming one also worked pretty well.0

We found using a Vax wet'n'dry worked a treat or have a removable filter fitted!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0
