This probably is not a record on this forum but I managed to make my 1litre bottle of fairy liquid last 7 months, by using one drop at a time or for very greasy grill pan a good swirl around. I admit I have a dishwasher but I wash my pots and pans, chopping boards and previously baby bottles by hand. I also bought a big box of washing powder 90 scoops last 7 months too, by using only three quarters the recommended amount. Has anyone else made any cleaners etc. last a long time and if so how did you do it?

One tube of shower gel (500mls) usually lasts me about 6 months as I tansfer it into a pump dispenser so alot less is dispensed in one sitting rather than sqeezing it out and I uses one of those bath scrunches that makes thousands of foamy bubbles (even from a small amount of liquid).
Washing powder always lasts me at least twice as many washes as the packet suggests as i only use half a scoop (having delicate skin) and unless its my sons mud/bike oil/filth stained jeans - the clothes do get clean. Secret is not to over fill the washer.
AND I only ever eat half a bag of crisps in one sitting. (This is good for my purse and my figure). Might sound odd but a nibble crisps so even half a bag lasts me about 20 minutes.
When I have had enough I roll the top down and pop a peg over it so the crisps dont go stale overnight.

We got some really cheap bubble bath from Macro (about 1.29 for 5 litres). This was over 2 years ago - never use it as bubble bath, but decant it into a wall-mounted hand-wash dispenser. We are only half-way down the bottle now.0

Been going thin on top since age 16, now 35. The last time I bought shampoo was sometime in the late 1990's. It was a cheep small bottle of asda stuff. It lasted well over a year, even washing my head 3 - 4 times a week. Now, have more face than hair to wash, but my soap bills are huge!0

One of my Mum's best friends, now sadly departed, was the ultimate OS moneysaver. She made everything last soooo long!! She died 5 years ago but was still using dried egg from the war, after which she bought up loads of supplies as it was being sold off. She also used to buy fish heads and poach them and then spend about an hour picking off the fish for fish cakes with a pair of tweezers. But the ultinate for me was when I was pregnant with DD1 and had piles she gave me a tube of haemorroid (sp) cream to borrow, which had one of those long applicator nozzles on, and which she had bought when cycling through France in 1939:eek: She said it was the best cream she had ever used so to make sure I didn't use too much!!! Oh yes and she used to wash the mayonnaise off of out of date coleslaw and potato salad and make soup!Jane

PMSL - I relate to this! My face wash starts at my adam's apple goes up over the top and finishes at the back of my neck. I save a fortune on shampoo and get through gallons of face wash.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Great replies everyone, they made me laugh as well as getting a few tips. Thanks a million. Does anyone remember flash in a powder form, well a friend's mum still uses it on her kitchen floor. I use conditioner in a handwash dispenser and it lasts ages too. Sorry I can't beat the dried eggs though.Penny xxx

I've had a can of furniture polish for about 3 years. Apart from that I think I use everything up fairly regularly.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
