    Quite honestly it does make you think what's the point of bothering to try make your money as you may as well convert to Islam and join these guys because : maserati motor cars etc.

    this is not true. there were bus conductors in london until quite recently. i'm not exactly sure but i assume that there were bus conductors until the last routemasters went out of service in 2005. there were certainly still bus conductors in about 2003/4 as i had a conversation with one on the footplate at the back of the bus: she kindly explained to me that the bus was very busy because there had been a tube strike, and that it was exceeding the maximum permitted customers and would not be able to move until i left. i thanked her in the most gracious terms for her helpful attitude. luckily the driver was not as concerned as she was.
