short term home phone contract?

i need a home phone line for a couple of months, but can only find deals involving 12 month contracts...
i want to sign up to a broadband provider offering a new package including line rental in september...
until then i can either wait and hope nobody takes my installed bt line, which will then cost me £129 to get reconnected, or i can use a line rental for the next 2 or 3 months...
i have spoken to bt...my line was disconnected in feb so i have until august...they give you 6 months from date of disconnection, after which line is available to others if needed....
anybody have any ideas how to get round this, or who offers a short term line rental contract...
given i am only in limbo for a short time, august to september, chances are i will be ok...bt said they could not "protect" the line for me...

i went for the post office home phone, £12 for line rental and some calls, no contract and 15 days notice, and got/will get £15 cashback by buying through Top CashBack...:j0
