Camping! It's finally hit me!

I have spent months, if not years, trying to find the best value for money for the type of holiday I would enjoy. I've spent money on hotels and been disappointed, been abroad and for what we could afford been very disappointed, and stayed in static caravans that have given me nightmares for weeks afterwards. We've bought a huge tent now, and can go anywhere we like, with gorgeous views, at a fraction of the cost. We have bought proper airbeds and take our duvets, and the tent sleeps 9 but there are only three of us, so loads of space. We're going to Sennen for a week soon and it's costing us £128! I wish I'd thought of this before wasting money lining other people's pockets!
And the kids sleep, soundly. They are so full of fresh air!
Whoopy!!!

Camping is great when it is good weather - we have been going years, but your bubble can be burst quickly when reality strikes!
A huge tent, force 9 winds and horizontal rain for five days can quickly dampen not only your tent but also your enthusiasm.0 -
pfft... I wish I could have a big tent. I've been out and seen some at exhibitions and the bottom line is that (alone) I can only guarantee to put up a pop up tent. I have to have a tent that I can put up and take down, alone, even in bad weather.... which is pretty much a £20 pop up tent

On the plus side, it's just me, so if the weather's pig awful I can sleep in the car all toasty.0 -

P!ss on OP's chips, why don't you?!
Brill, OP. I love camping (rain or shine) and because it's so cheap you get so many more holidays.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

Plenty here - and larger ones too.
Planning on buying one when I take the kids to Cornbury next year.0 -
It's not that I can't find tents.... I can't put them up/take them down alone. I'm small/tiny ... and manually challengedhttp://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/camping-pop-up-tents-13801414/

Those quechua ones do look nice. I originally saw the almost vertical quechua 4-man pop up on youtube ... decided I wanted one, then watched a couple of videos of people taking them down and realised it wasn't achievable

They are pop-up ones that fit up to 4. Pop-ups for 9 are also available elsewhere from the same manufacturer.
Up and down in seconds. I have no intention of spending time putting poles etc up myself!0 -

lol! I can see that already. And people love watching other people making a mess of putting their tent up. When we first tried ours out, someone said "I'll give you half an hour before you start arguing!"Forever I will sail towards the horizon with you0 -
Hi
We have a massive tent, just because its bigger doesnt mean it will take you any longer to put them up, its takes around 30-40 mins to put it up, then extra for the pegging.
We did get alot of people coming over having a good look when it was up wishing they had one.
It stood up really well when the heavens opened and the wind was quite wild, and the campsite was flooded.0
