Damage caused not sure on my rights

Hiya everyone, I'll try and keep it short.

My iphone the dock connector stopped working and the apple store wanted a fortune to repair it, so I looked online found a company which looked quite good, seemed to have good reviews and all the rest.

So I sent my phone off to them to get the dock connector repaired I thought £24.99 was great value. They replaced it and sent it back within 2 days super quick, but the part they had fitted was faulty so it had to go back to them they replaced it at no cost and refunded the £5.50 I had to pay to send it back to them recorded delivery. At this point I though wow what a great company to deal with. That was until my phone got delivered back to me.

There is a crack in the casing of the phone now, they claim no responsibility for it stating it must have happened in transit, normally I would accept that but they have a lined box with foam and all that jazz to hold the phone securely in a very well protected box. I seriously doubt it could have happened in transit and more likely to be when they took the phone apart to fit the new dock connector.

I have complained to them but as I said they claim no responsibility for it, I think otherwise I know that they do replacement covers for the iphone and if they fitted one F.O.C then I would be more than happy as at least they had tried to make it right.

I really don't know what my rights are on this whatsoever so any help is gratefully accepted.

Write to them (would be wise to include photos, to make the fault clear) and see what they say, they seem to have dealt with it well until now. Often a written letter will get farther than an email or telephone call (send recorded delivery).

    Where are they based?

If outside the UK, there's little practical benefit in trying to pursue further if they are unwilling to directly help. If in the UK then you can file a Small Claims Court action. Do try and pursue directly with the company first though, and remember to keep all evidence you can since it's basically one person's word against another (did you photograph the iPhone prior to sending it in for instance?).

Post back with what they say (in response to your letter, if they don't resolve the matter) and I'm sure someone will advice how to proceed the Small Claims route should you need to. Hopefully, it won't be necessary.

Thanks Adam I think I will try writing to them properly as you suggest, I have sent another email today so I guess I will see what they say tomorrow once they have read it. They are based in the UK though i-phone-repairs.co.uk
