1st car issues

Im 22 jus graduated and bough a £800 fiat punto (active sport 1.2)

Almost had heart failure when I could only get insurance quotes for above £3000!!!!

Im thinking it might be because its a sport model but that can't be right its riduculous.

Anyone know what I can do about it.....if anything?

Didn't you get quotes first? £3k sounds very high for a 22 yr old, unless you've got points etc. Would expect that for an 18 year old. Shop around, put parent on as a named driver, reduce milage to x998 rather than 5000.

Don't go putting parent as main driver, you'll get the fronting police on here bursting in to tears and smashing their keyboard up in a rage.

Check insurance cost before buying a car. You need to be insured when you've bought the car anyway.

just because the car is bought for £800 doesn't mean the insurance is going to be cheap.

you realy should have had some quotes first before handing over the cash. the quotes will be high for a first time driver as your expected to crash and claim on the insurance.

try adrian flux ins as they are one of the specialised insurers.

as for fiat it does mean (Fix It Again Tomorrow)

Young male with no NCB? It's not that far beyond the norm.

What I will say to the OP is don't bother getting quotes for fully comp. As a young driver, you're likely to have a compulsory excess of £500 on top of your voluntary (around £250-£300). On a car that's (today) worth £800, it would be cheaper to walk away if anything did happen.

The Active Sports are not really sporty models, they do have alloys etc but are low powered.
